Türkiye – Slovak Republic Political Relations

Türkiye was one of the first countries to recognize the independent Slovak Republic, following the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993. Bilateral relations between two countries are free from political disputes and maintain a friendly course. There is ample room for the development and strengthening of bilateral relations between two countries which are allies in NATO.

Türkiye - Slovak Republic Economic Relations

Bilateral trade volume between Türkiye and Slovakia stood at 1.528 billion USD in 2020 (Turkish exports: 550 million USD, imports: 978 million USD, Source: Turkish Statistical Institute). Slovakia ranked 59th in Türkiye’s exports and 42nd in imports in 2020.

According to these figures, the main items that Türkiye exported to Slovakia were clothing and accessories, parts of motor vehicles, metal products, textiles, rubber and rubber products, machinery and devices, iron and steel. The main items imported from Slovakia were automotive and spare parts, rubber and rubber products, machinery and devices, sanitary ware, iron and steel, paper-cardboard and their products and volatile oils.

Türkiye is one of the leading tourism destinations for Slovak people. In 2019, approximately 201 thousands of Slovak tourists visited Türkiye, as the number one tourism destination for Slovak citizens. The number of Slovak tourists visiting our country in 2020 remained at 7,520 due to the pandemic. The number of Slovak tourists for the first ten months of 2021 was 34,878.
